About LexFeed

LexFeed is a news and events aggregator for Lexington, Kentucky. Our goal is simple: gather the day's local reporting and happenings into one fast, uncluttered homepage so you can see what matters in Central Kentucky at a glance, then click through to read the full story at its source.

LexFeed does not replace local journalism, and it is not a substitute for it. Every headline points to the publication that reported it. When you read the whole story on a local outlet's site, you support the reporters who did the work. Think of LexFeed as a front page and an index, not a newsroom.

What we cover

Our primary focus is Lexington and Fayette County. We also track surrounding communities and regional topics as a secondary focus, including Georgetown, Nicholasville, Versailles, Richmond, Winchester, and the broader Central Kentucky area, along with Kentucky state government and the University of Kentucky.

How it works

LexFeed ingests publicly available RSS and other feeds from local publishers, official sources, and community outlets. It never republishes full articles. Instead it shows a headline, a short attributed snippet where appropriate, the source name, and the publication time, and then links to the original.

  • Clustering. When several outlets cover the same story, LexFeed groups that coverage into a single cluster so you can see who is reporting on it and pick a source, instead of scrolling past ten copies of the same headline.
  • Ranking. Items are ranked by a combination of significance and freshness. We never rank by clicks, and there is no engagement-maximizing algorithm working against you.
  • Summaries. Where automated summaries appear, they are clearly labeled, kept factual and neutral, attributed to the source, and may be edited or disabled by editors. They are not a substitute for the original reporting.

How content is labeled

Not everything on a local feed is the same kind of thing, so LexFeed distinguishes between them clearly:

  • Reported news from established outlets.
  • Official announcements from government and institutions.
  • Opinion and commentary.
  • Community discussion from local forums and groups.
  • Unverified posts, which are never presented as confirmed news.

Independence

LexFeed is an independent project. It is not affiliated with any publisher, the University of Kentucky, UK Athletics, the Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government, or any other organization. Names, logos, and trademarks belong to their respective owners.
